I love the story of Galathea. She was a marble statue so beautiful that her creator, Pygmalion, fell in love with her. Appealing to Venus for help, Galathea warms and comes to life. My purpose for this painting…to create the image of the woman I would have come to life. I named her Larissa Veronica Madonna. These are the middle names of my two beloved daughters, Suzanna and Marissa. (Madonna is Italian for ‘my lady’)
