When glazing pottery for the patrons of our shop ‘Puttin’ on the Bisque’, the various pieces , all solid blue (fairies, dragons, dogs, cats, mermaids, soldiers, cars, boats, etc.) would be placed into the kiln in a large puzzle of shelves and stilts.
24 hours later, after firing at 2000 degrees, all of the solid blue is transformed into a variety of bright colors. I wonder what went on in that heat and light!
